Emily, Phil and their weddings guests came all the way from the USA and the UK to Alpbach for a winter wedding! This was not a randomly chosen Tyrolean village, no, it's the place where Emily and her family would go to for a skiing holiday every year. Lots of memory have been made there and when Emily and Phil got together, Emily brought Phil to Alpbach. Since they both love the outdoors and skiing so much, it was almost a no-brainer to get married in the Austrian Alps.
The Rufana Alp in Bürserberg (Vorarlberg) provided the perfect setting for this special winter wedding in the snow. For me, as a wedding photographer with Dutch roots living and working in the mountains, this wedding was something truly special. My two worlds collided: the Austrian mountains and the Dutch culture met!
I was lucky enough to photograph this winter wedding from start to finish, so I was there early in the morning when Leonie and Rudi prepared for the big day separately. They were going to see each other for the first time outside on the meadow, with the snowy mountain backdrop, for the "First Look." Leonie’s dress and Rudi’s suit were a perfect match for the ambiance of the day. The white and brown colors blended wonderfully with the snow-covered mountains and the cloudy sky!
After the "First Look," we were taken to the cable car by quad, off to the top of the mountain for the photoshoot. Of course, when having a wedding in the mountains, you never know what the weather will do. The bride therefore brought a warm jacket with her to put on between shots. At the top of Bürserberg, we were greeted with a breathtaking panorama! We enjoyed a beautiful view of the peaks and stood on a thick blanket of snow. Skiers who passed by congratulated the couple and wished us a wonderful day. The photos turned out absolutely fantastic, and we even had time to fly the drone to capture new perspectives!
A heartfelt thank you to Emily and Phil for allowing me to photograph your wedding and share these photos.
